The IRBLleida Business Committee organizes a round table on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science
- The II Neuroscientifics Women Conference, in the University of Lleida, will also be held, organized by two professors from the Department of Experimental Medicine
The Business Committee of the Institute of Biomedical Research of Lleida (IRBLleida) ─ with the occasion of the International Women's Day in Science, which will take place on Monday, February 11th─ has organized a round table in which professionals of the institute will expose their experience in the world of research. The event will feature three professionals from the center, as well as a representative of the Lleida Women's Sports Association that will also bring their experience in the workplace. This is an event open to all, which will take place at 12.00 a.m., in the 0.22 classroom, of the Teaching Unit of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lleida (building attached to the University Hospital Arnau de Vilanova, in front of IRBLleida).
On the other hand, two professors from the Department of Experimental Medicine at the University of Lleida (UdL) and researchers from IRBLleida, Ester Desfilis and Loreta Medina, have organized the second Neuro-scientific Seminar. The Aula Magna of Ciències de la Salut of the UdL will host the conference on Monday 11 from 10:00 to 12:00. It will consist of three lectures of neuroscientists (from different fields: medicine, psychology and biomedicine) that will expose their path and their research topics, and a final round table.
Women account for 56% of the professionals hired or assigned to the Institute (they are part of the University of Lleida, the primary healthcare centers, the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital or the Santa Maria University Hospital). IRBLleida is made up of 214 women and 169 men.
Internacional Day
The International Women's Day in Science aims to promote full and equal participation of women and girls in education, training, employment and adoption processes of decisions in science, as well as of eliminating all kinds of discrimination against women in the fields of education and employment, breaking the legal, economic, social and cultural barriers through policies and curricula in the field of science to encourage greater participation of women and girls, and recognize their achievements.
