The Research Group on Health Care participates in a national project for the prevention of falls in older people

The Research Group on Health Care, composed of researchers from the Biomedical Research Institute of Lleida Foundation Dr. Pifarré (IRBLleida) and the Faculty of Nursing and Physiotherapy of the University of Lleida (UDL) is one of the leading state in nursing research. The group, coordinated by researcher and professor at the University of Lleida, Montserrat Gea, is currently working on three main projects, two of which are European and are focused on preventing cognitive decline and promote the transfer of knowledge. Friday, May 12, marks the International Nurses Day, which remembers the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is considered the mother of modern nursing.
Nationally, the dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Physiotherapy of the University of Lleida and researcher of Greece, Joan Blanco, Lleida is responsible for the project "Effectiveness Program Exercises in Otago applied in individual versus group form probabilidad of falls among people 65-80 years institucionalizadas no ", coordinated by researcher Laura Albornos of Care Research Unit ISCIII invest. The purpose of this study, which is conducted simultaneously in ten centers in Spain (Basque Country, Andalusia, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, Murcia, Madrid, Catalonia and the Canary Islands), is to compare the effectiveness of the program Otago formal exercise in subjects aged 65-80 years, to reduce the likelihood of falls in this population through a better balance of dynamic and static quality of the course. The project was initiated in 2017 that lasts Dec. 12 month follow-up. The team consists of Lleida nurses and physiotherapists Primary Care Center Eleven September Lleida.
