Juncosa and Torms give € 3500 to the IRBLleida to promote and disseminate research on cancer
The donation was raised at a conference entitled "War on Cancer" with various recreational and sports activities organized by a group of residents of the two municipalities

On July 2, a group of residents of the municipalities of Juncosa and Torms at Garrigues organized a fun day with the title "War on Cancer" in order to promote and disseminate research. Through this initiative, the organizers have € 3,500 at the Biomedical Research Institute of Lleida Foundation Dr. Pifarré (IRBLleida) to develop and manage biomedical research and research training in the field of health sciences. Thursday July 21, the organizers and the head IRBLleida Promotion, Josep Maria Bosch, signed the agreement, which used this collective collaboration by economic research projects at the Institute.
The event, which featured a large neighborhood participation, began with a popular walk to the back and dry stone huts. Then there was the participation in games of bowling and petanque, and entertainment for children. The meal also served to raise more money and the celebration ended with a charity bingo and some musical performances during the afternoon and evening.
The contributions of companies and organizations with collaborative approaches aimed Institute to carry out the mission of the IRBLleida is to promote, develop, manage and disseminate research-applied and translational biomedical clinicoepidemiological.
Not forgetting also trained in research in the field of health sciences, mainly in Lleida, and support for research groups working at the University of Lleida Lleida and the health system, to investigate how relevant diseases : cancer, stroke, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, diseases of the pleura, aging, nervous system, cardiovascular system disorders and respiratory infections and mental disorders, among others, and provide better services to the population.
Currently, IRBLleida has the support of over one hundred companies and organizations Lleida, with the help of which the research has important fruit, which has allowed a better understanding of these diseases and improve diagnosis and treatment.
