The IRBLleida Talent Recruitment Office has supported 35 international professionals since its establishment
The induction and support programme has attracted more than 50 participants and helps to facilitate the integration and retention of research talent
IRBLleida's Talent Attraction Office has supported 35 international professionals since the launch of its welcome and support programme, an initiative designed to facilitate the arrival, integration and retention of international talent at the institute.
Launched in 2025 by the Research Staff Recruitment Office (OCPI), the programme provides personalised guidance on key aspects related to joining the institute and settling in the Lleida area. Available services include support in finding accommodation, assistance with administrative and bureaucratic procedures, access to language courses, mentoring programmes, and information on funding opportunities for research career development. In addition, the initiative promotes cultural and social activities aimed at helping participants become familiar with their new environment and build professional and personal connections.
Throughout 2025 and the first half of 2026, the programme supported professionals from 19 different nationalities, affiliated with 17 research groups, Scientific and Technical Services, and units within IRBLleida. During this period, a total of 52 participations were recorded across the various programme modules-16 in 2025 and 36 during the first six months of 2026-highlighting the relevance and usefulness of the services provided.
Regarding the profile of participants, almost half were early-stage researchers (R1), accounting for 47.2% of the total. They were followed by established researchers (R3), representing 16.7%, and recognised researchers (R2), representing 11.1%. Leading researchers (R4) accounted for 2.8% of participants, while the remaining 16.7% corresponded to technical and management staff, as well as staff from the Scientific and Technical Services.
Most common procedures and support needs
The queries received by the OCPI mainly concern the procedures required during the first weeks after arriving in Spain. Participants frequently request information about accommodation, Catalan and Spanish language courses, as well as guidance on obtaining the NIE, TIE and other residency-related procedures. Questions regarding municipal registration (empadronamiento) and obtaining a digital certificate are also common.
This support is provided by appointment (via talent@irblleida.cat), either in person at the IRBLleida Management Office or remotely through video calls and email. This digital channel enables international professionals to contact the OCPI before relocating to Lleida, helping them plan their arrival and ensuring a smoother and more efficient transition.
