Lleida Provincial Council plenary session approves a €2.8m contribution to IRBLleida for the next four years

To support talent attraction and retention

The plenary session of Lleida Provincial Council, held on 27 March in the Plenary Hall of the Provincial Council Palace, under the presidency of Joan Talarn, approved the collaboration agreement with the Institute of Biomedical Research of Lleida (IRBLleida) for the financing of research activities and investments in its centres, for the years 2025-2028, for a total of €2,838,000.

The details of the agreement were announced by the deputy for Health and Sports, Òscar Martínez. Thus, the actions supported include projects such as Talent 2025, which focuses on attracting and retaining this talent with 4-year grants in the second call for grants for research personnel in training; the 5th call for grants for initiation in research, or the 13th call for grants for research personnel in training, to support the completion of the doctoral thesis.

Also included are the ILERVAS 2025 research project, which should enable the recruitment of research staff for the development of research and/or exploitation of the results of the Bus de la Salut project at IRBLleida; the development of many of the actions foreseen in the 2023-2025 innovation plan, thanks to the OTRI 2025 project; the third call for Seed Innovation Projects (ISP2025) in Biomedicine (Seed 2025); quality health research in the Lleida Health Region and the Alt Pirineu and Aran Health Region through the award of five grants of 50. 50,000 each for research projects of excellence lasting two years and carried out under the supervision of principal investigators (PI) with a recognised research track record (PIRS 2025); Pyrenees Aran 2025 research projects, or actions at the Centre for Applied Biomedical Experimental Research (CREBA) in Torrelameu.

Finally, a section is dedicated to investments in the CREBA and IRBLleida facilities, and the replacement of small obsolete equipment.
