Castellers de Lleida raises more than €4,300 at the MOVEMBER charity auction in Lleida
The proceeds will go to men's health research
Castellers de Lleida, in collaboration with the Institute of Biomedical Research of Lleida (IRBLleida) and Mr. Postu de Lleida, organised a charity auction of moustaches that raised €4,348 for research into prostate cancer, testicular cancer and male mental health.
The event, held on 29 November at the Castellers de Lleida premises, presented by Josep Maria Bosch, head of promotion at IRBLleida, together with Mr. Postu i Elies, member of the Castellers de Lleida, is part of the 'Movember' initiative, a global movement that uses the moustache as a symbol to raise awareness of men's health. Under the slogan 'Y Love Moustaches', the auction was attended by 31 moustaches and beards.
Organisers stressed that Movember is more than a fad; it represents a real commitment to improving men's health. Every moustache seen during the month of November symbolises this commitment and contributes to changing lives.
The auction has awarded four prizes in different categories: Highest bidder; Highest bidder; Most original moustache; Moustache with the highest bid (€750). These special prizes have been made possible thanks to the collaboration of several local businesses in Alcarràs which have generously provided many of their products for the event: Yogupet, Carnisseria Lluïsa, Carnisseria Ca la Pastora, Bodega Jordi, Francho’s Barber, Hervabona and Agrocentre Bonàrea d'Alcarràs.
This initiative demonstrates how creativity and solidarity can come together to support important causes such as cancer research and the promotion of men's health
