Dr. Matias-Guiu is recognised as the specialist in Pathological Anatomy with the best reputation in Spain

Dr. Xavier Matias-Guiu, head of the Oncological Pathology research group at IRBLleida, head of the Pathology Department at the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital and Professor of Pathology at the University of Lleida (UdL), has been recognised in first place in the category of specialists in Pathology at the MERCO-OdS Reputational Leadership Awards. These awards are organised annually by MERCO, the Health Responsibility Monitor of reference in Spain and Latin America, and the consultancy firm specialising in the healthcare sector, Observatorio de Salud (OdS), to recognise and promote the reputational leadership of organisations, hospitals and healthcare specialists in Spain. The Merco-Ods Awards recognise the excellence and commitment of professionals in different specialties. The selection is based on a reputational assessment tool launched in 2000, based on a multi-stakeholder methodology comprising six evaluations and more than twenty sources of information.

The MERCO-OdS Awards are awarded publicly on 11 November and consist of three distinct blocks: reputational leadership in the field of administrations, reputational leadership in the hospital field and reputational leadership in the field of professional specialties. It is in this last field, in the field of Pathological Anatomy, in which Dr. Matias-Guiu has been recognised as the specialist in Pathological Anatomy with the best reputation in Spain in 2024.
