4th Annual Meeting of the IRBLleida Cancer area

With the participation of researchers from the Molecular Oncology Programme of the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO)

The Cancer area of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Lleida (IRBLleida) held its 4th Annual Meeting on 27 September. A date consolidated in the calendar to present the latest advances in this area of research and establish collaborations with other research centres. On this occasion, the event was attended by researchers from the Molecular Oncology Programme of the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) located in Madrid. Specifically, the area was visited by researchers Óscar Fernández-Capetillo, coordinator of the Programme and head of the Genomic Instability Group; Nabil Djouder, head of the Growth Factors, Nutrients and Cancer Group; Alejo Efeyan, head of the Metabolism and Cell Signalling Group; and Eva González Suárez, leader of the Transformation and Metastasis Group.

The CNIO is a high-level public centre dedicated to cancer research, diagnosis and treatment. The centre currently has 23 research groups, 16 high-tech and diagnostic units, a Biobank that provides access to human biological samples and associated information through the National Biobank Platform, a Clinical Research Programme to transfer the results of preclinical research to patients, and an Experimental Therapeutics Programme to accelerate the generation of new anti-tumour drugs.

The day included presentations by senior researchers from both centres, and a session aimed at IRBLleida doctoral and master's students, who presented their research in the form of scientific posters and oral communications.
