700 people take part in IRBLleida's Research Night 2024 in guided tours, talks and workshops

On Friday 20th, 14 simultaneous workshops and a talk by the Joan Oró Foundation took place

A total of 700 people have participated in the framework of the activities of the Research Night 2024, guided tours, talks and scientific workshops. The guided tours were organised from Monday 16th to Thursday 19th. In addition, the CREBA centre, in Torrelameu, also organised a guided tour in the pig model research centre.

On Friday 20th there were 14 simultaneous workshops and a talk by the Joan Oró Foundation. Workshops on a game of clues where participants had to put on a lab coat and gloves to be able to centrifuge and freeze samples as if they were at the IRBLleida biobank. The participants also became a criminal police officer for a day and solved a crime with the help of microscopy and different analytical techniques such as the luminol test. In addition, a surprise new science workshop was organised in which participants created a lava lamp.

IRBLleida Research Night 2024 also featured a planetarium, a face painting and research tattoo workshop, live music and a science photography session.

This 2024 edition of Research Night at IRBLleida was made possible thanks to grants from the 'la Caixa' Foundation and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). Lleida City Council also collaborated in the organisation of the event.
