The IRBLleida organises the fifth #SomRecerca conference to discover the role of the patient in biomedical research in Lleida
Research staff and patients explained how their research collaboration came about
The Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Lleida (IRBLleida) organised yesterday the fifth #SomRecerca conference, a meeting to reflect on the role of the patient in research at IRBLleida. The Caixaforum Lleida hosted the fifth edition of this initiative in which attendees learned about three different cases of citizen participation in biomedical research.
Firstly, the pair formed by the postdoctoral researcher of the Cell Signalling by Calcium group at IRBLleida Anna Visa Pretel and the president of the Association Against Cancer in Lleida, Sisco Maranges Granja, spoke about the research being carried out at IRBLleida on glioblastoma, a very aggressive type of cancer that affects the brain or spinal cord, which received a grant from the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
Secondly, Erica Briones Vozmediano and José Tomas Mateos Garcia, researchers from the IRBLleida Health Cures research group, spoke with Lahcen Boumakhtaf Lo azrak, a mediator from the Intercultural Mediation Association, about the project they are developing with a migrant population.
Thirdly, the head of the vascular and renal translational research group at IRBLleida, José Manuel Valdivielso Revilla, and the participant in the research project 'El Bus de la Salud' and the study on black garlic, M. Dolors Rafel Campàs, explained their collaboration in this research.
