Research staff in training at RBLleida organise a conference to share their research
Dr Rubén Nogueiras Pozo, researcher at the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases and professor of Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Santiago de Compostela, has also been invited
Research staff in training at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Lleida (IRBLleida) have organised today, 16 March, the 'Jesús Montoliu Memorial Extraordinary Day', to give visibility to their research and share a meeting with other professionals. As part of this meeting, Rubén Nogueiras Pozo, researcher at the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CiMJUS), the Center for Biomedical Research Network on Pathophysiology of Obesity and Nutrition (CIBEROBN) and professor of Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Santiago de Compostela, has also been invited.
The Jesús Montoliu Conference is an annual meeting organised by the research staff in training at IRBLleida, in which a researcher of national or international prestige is invited to share talks and experiences. The 2023 conference will feature talks by researchers Silvia Gras Artells, Santiago Rico Rios, Aurora Pérez Gómez and Arabela Sanz Alcázar.
The day will end with an extraordinary seminar by Nogueiras Pozo, PhD in Biology from the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he has been a full professor since 2004. Among his scientific achievements, the discovery of the molecular basis for a direct control of lipid metabolism through the autonomic nervous system deserves special attention. In 2009 he set up a research group, also attached to CIBEROBN, focused on the study of the molecular mechanism involved in obesity and liver damage, and today he continues to investigate some of the metabolic pathways through which fatty acids perform their functions and how the targeting of some of these pathways could alleviate fibrosis in animal models.
The conference took place at the Faculty of Medicine of the UdL
