The Territorial Clinical Director of Chronic Respiratory Diseases of Lleida, director of CIBERES (Centre for Biomedical Research Network Respiratory Diseases) and head of the research group Translational Research in Respiratory Medicine at the Institute for Biomedical Research of Lleida (IRBLleida), Ferran Barbé, received last week the gold insignia of the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR) for his leadership in this stage of the pandemic and for his commitment to care and research in the field of respiratory diseases. The award ceremony took place in Pamplona Cathedral at an institutional event organised as part of the scientific programme of the 55th SEPAR National Congress.
The Territorial Clinical Director of Chronic Respiratory Diseases in Lleida was honoured together with the director of the WHO Department of Public Health, María Neira; the director of the Carlos III Health Institute, Cristóbal Belda; the director of the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products, María Jesús Lamas; the senior consultant at the Hospital Clínico, Àlvar Agustí; the senior pulmonologist at the Miguel Servet University Hospital, José María Marín, and the director of the Canary Islands Health Service, Conrado Domínguez.
Ferran Barbé thanks SEPAR for this award for the work done by all professionals in the field of respiratory medicine in this extraordinary pandemic situation.
