IRBLleida organises the third #SomRecerca conference to raise awareness of the role of the patient in biomedical research in Lleida
This year the event will take place on Lleida TV on Friday 26 November at 22:00.
The Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Lleida (IRBLleida) has organised the third #SomRecerca conference, a meeting to reflect on the role of patients in biomedical research carried out in Lleida, the current situation and the objectives and challenges of the future. It consists of three conversations between research staff and patients or patient organisations that explain how biomedical research benefits from citizen participation. This third edition will take place on Lleida TV on Friday 26 November at 22:00.
Responsible Research & Innovation (RRI) seeks to promote more inclusive research and innovation, where society can be given a voice and listened to so that it can play a more relevant role in all phases of research and innovation. The conference is promoted by the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS) and the Department of Health, and is supported by the Fundació la Caixa and the Diputació de Lleida.
In this third edition, we will be able to learn about the research collaboration of an expert paediatric stroke patient, a representative of ataxia patients' associations and the manager of the Lleida Anti-AIDS Foundation. Specifically, we will be able to see the conversations of:
- Glòria Arqué, neuroscientist from the Clinical Neurosciences research group at IRBLleida, and Susana Ibarz, paediatric stroke patient expert.
- Oriol Yuguero, doctor in the Emergency Department of the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital in Lleida (HUAV) and head of the Transversal Research Group on Emergency and Urgent Care at the IRBLleida, and Marta Melgosa, manager of the Lleida Anti-AIDS Foundation.
- Joaquim Ros, Professor at the University of Lleida (UdL) and head of the Biochemistry of Oxidative Stress research group at IRBLleida, and Juan Carlos Baiges, pharmacist and representative of ataxia patient associations.
The conference is part of a series on citizen participation in research that AQuAS is promoting in several Catalan research centres since 2019.
This activity is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
