Oriol Yuguero, ICS Young Researcher Award 2021
The Catalan Institute of Health rewards the scientific research of its professionals at the ICS Research Day 2020-21
The doctor of the Emergency Department of the University Hospital Arnau de Vilanova of Lleida (HUAV) and principal investigator of the Research Group in Emergencies and Emergencies of the Institute of Biomedical Research of Lleida (IRBLleida), Oriol Yuguero, has received the Young Researcher Award of the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS) 2021. The Vall de Hebron Campus has hosted the Research Day of the Catalan Institute of Health 2020-21, in which the ICS Research Awards for 2020 and 2021 have been released. The main focus of the conference was the current situation of research at ICS and in the world, and research in COVID-19.
Yuguero is also the president of the Healthcare Ethics Committee of the Lleida Health Region and has promoted the figure of the ethical consultant to provide answers to the dilemmas that may arise for professionals in their day-to-day work. In the area of research, she divides her research in the Emergency Department into two areas. On the one hand, a clinical aspect to describe the most prevalent emergency pathology, centred on cranial trauma, for which he has obtained competitive funding from the Mutua Madrileña Foundation. And on the other, a public health aspect, in which it has developed a screening programme for chlamydia infection, a community emergency, especially for young people. In terms of training, he is a lecturer at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and the Universitat de Lleida, and has been a member of various scientific committees, conferences and speakers at different congresses.
