Recognition of the career of Professor of Medicine José Manuel Porcel

José Manuel Porcel Pérez, professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lleida (UdL), head of the Internal Medicine Department at the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital and IRBLleida researcher, has been awarded the Obieta 2020 prize by the Spanish Royal National Academy of Medicine for his professional career. Porcel's distinction is endorsed by the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the award ceremony was held virtually.

In 2019, Porcel received recognition as a Fellow of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) for his record of publications and outstanding contributions in the field of respiratory medicine. He has also been a Fellow of the American College of Physicians since 2000, the American College of Chest Physicians since 2000, and the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology since 2013.
