The Medical Oncology Department of the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital (HUAV) has received a donation of eight watercolours that will remain on permanent display in the corridor of the new consultation area, located on the first floor of the Multipurpose Hospital Space. The watercolours are the work of Rubén Tejero, an artist from Lleida and one of the coordinators of the Oncology Clinical Trials Unit of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRBLleida).
The consultations of the Medical Oncology service, which handles an average of 25,000 visits a year, have been located on the first floor of the Multipurpose Hospital Area since last January. With the intention of humanising the new space, those in charge of the service commissioned the works from Rubén Tejero. The watercolours, painted in warm colours and natural tones, convey the messages of self-improvement, welcome or accompaniment, among others. "We want to convey the idea to the patients and their families that we are here to accompany them," explains the author. In the future, it is planned to expand this collection with new watercolours.
Among other works, Rubén Tejero (@rubensteje_arte) has illustrated the collection of the five volumes of the epic youth novel El secreto de Isla Infantia, a work by Jaume Bitterhoff, also from Lleida.
